REVIEWS:

Fantastic views around the park and great facilities IN the park - a book library, internet access, outdoors play area for the kids, free showers and very clean toilette blocks.

Add the very friendly staff, their interests in the great outdoors / events to be shared with their visitors (we were informed all round the park of the event of the Pleiades meteor showers to be viewed at 11pm on the 12th August and there was a Bat-observation Evening Walk on the 14th which we missed), and the very close amenities of pubs and walks and you are assured of a great holiday.  Thanks Skelwith Fold.

We have visited Skelwith since the children were tiny and its a magical place being just near Ambleside in complete peace and quiet in the woods. The Site is very hilly but the pitches are all level and tucked away in quiet corners so it never feels you are being overlooked. Showers and toilets are spotless and there are other very nice buildings like a little library and modern laundry.

No bar or cafe on the park but we don’t mind that. Great pub called the Drunken Duck about 10 mins walk but its not cheap and has a lot of awards. In Ableside village there are plenty of choices and we often go to Lucy On A Plate which is a bit different from normal cafes.

Park is great for kids with loads of safe paths to explore and a really good playground. Park Shop is very well stocked. The real stars at Skelwith are the staff who are very welcoming and friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble and will tell you where to stand to get a mobile signal!!! We have been to many sites in Cumbria and this is the best by a long way.

Hello All. Skelly is a brilliant park for chilling out if you are not looking for loads of entertainment but don't mind making your own! We came in March and it was beautiful. Wildlife is amazing and one morning we actually saw red deer grazing outside the bedroom window! We stayed on one of the park's new super-pitches which are very generous for space and close to reception and shop. It's a very clean and friendly well-run park, and bang in the centre of Cumbria. Great selection of leaflets for local attractions in reception, and staff very helpful if you have questions. We were going to Devon in summer, but family demand we come back here

I have just come back from Skelwith Fold and am very very impressed. It's a lovely park from top to bottom in a beautiful location and obviously very well looked after by the family owners. They had just opened a new toilet and shower block in April when we came, and in twenty years of touring I've never seen better. This is a quality park.

Myself and my family enjoyed five days at Skelwith Fold last autumn - up from Cardiff to show relatives our new family addition! Our 13 and 15 year old boys came too and spent ages exploring the woodlands which are fantastic. We took them to Go Ape one day which is about twenty minutes drive away in Grizedale - what an experience if you have got a head for heights! Good pubs and cafes (in Ambleside) if you are eating out with plenty of kids options on the menus. Skelwith Fold is a stunning place to spend a holiday even if you never leave the park.

Breakdown on motorway meant we arrived with our tourer at 9.00pm. We could see reception at park was closed - but before we could get out of the car to see if there was a notice about late arrivals, the night warden came across, all smiles and sorry to hear about our misfortune. What a lovely greeting, and he then insisted we follow him to our pitch so we didn't get lost and stayed chatting while we set up. Over the next three days of our stay it was the same with all staff we met: friendly, polite and nothing too much trouble. Call us old-fashioned (we are both late sixties!) but courtesy counts a lot with us and can make a stay so much more enjoyable. The park is absolutely charming as well - a perfect Lake District "gem". Well done to you all.

Perfick! Clean tidy and well-marked pitches in a breathtaking setting. We came late September when leaves were turning and what a sight! Cheerful staff and in fact all other holidays guests we met seemed in a good mood which makes a change. It's that sort of park. But just a B+ for the toilets and shower block. Clean and acceptable but a bit tired.

Comment from Skelwith Fold : Glad you enjoyed it - and yes, autumn and spring are fantastic seasons here. If you do make it back for spring, you'll find the "tired" facilities block replaced by something new and shiny - that's one of our winter projects!
