Guests are quids in at top Lakeland park

2nd May 2011

Pitches for just one pound a night are being put up for grabs by a multi-award winning Ambleside holiday park - and the evening's food, wine and beer won't even cost guests a penny!

The one-night offer on Saturday May 21st is to mark the success of Skelwith Fold Caravan Park's new touring club which was launched at the start of the season.

Touring caravan and motorhome owners attending the event will also be invited to taste free samples of foods, beers and wines provided by Cumbrian suppliers.

Members of Skelwith Fold's touring club are able to enjoy off-peak stays at rates well below the normal tariff - plus occasional special promotions such as this month's pound-a-pitch deal.

The park has also negotiated exclusive offers for members from a wide range of Lakeland businesses.

Among the deals are discounts in top restaurants and pubs, reduced cost entry to visitor attractions, and special prices for activities ranging from luxury spa treatments to water-skiing.

The new touring club, said director Henry Wild, will help increase visitor numbers to Cumbria, especially in off-peak times, and would benefit both guests and local enterprises.

Skelwith Fold, commented Henry, has a "buy local" policy which extends to its park supermarket where locally sourced food and drink are a speciality.

It's many of these suppliers which will be setting out free tasting of their wares during the coming weekend, and include Cumbrian Way Foods, English Lakes ice cream and Hawkshead Brewery.

Skelwith Fold was named as the Holiday Park of the Year in 2010 by Cumbria Tourism, and has won a number of top green awards for its care of the natural environment.
