Some motorhome visitors to Skelwith Fold tell us that their vehicle has changed their lives. The freedom to go whenever and wherever you choose, and the knowledge that your holidays begin the moment you arrive on the park, makes for a very liberating experience and what’s more we’d love to have you stay with us.
Our large gravel pitches situated throughout the park are ideal for motorhome holidays, with lovely views to nearby woodland or across a broader panorama of Lakeland scenery.
And as far as facilities are concerned, Skelwith Fold has plenty including a dedicated waste area just for Motorhomes.
We've just completed a fantastic new launderette which, with its light and airy atmosphere and vending of freshly ground cappuccinos and other drinks, is almost worth a special visit in itself!
There are fully equipped showers and toilet facilities, a wi-fi enabled area in the library and study area, and excellent children's playground. Not to mention a well-stocked shop which carries all day-to-day needs plus a selection of locally produced food.
If you’re considering investing in this glorious lifestyle, do remember that size isn't everything - and that the largest or most generously equipped motorhomes may not be the best decision for you. Smaller models may have all the space you need, and be more versatile in use.
First ask yourself a few questions about how you intend to use the unit. For example, if you intend to use the motorhome as an everyday vehicle as well as for leisure, a compact high-top conversion or elevating roof model might be the right answer.
If you plan to have holidays on parks such as Skelwith Fold which have plenty of facilities, you might not need all of the on-board equipment options that would be useful if leaving the beaten track.
It might seem obvious, but do check that you have room on your driveway not just to park but also to manoeuvre the vehicle. Or check out secure storage facilities nearby.
If you have never experienced driving a larger vehicle, or would just like some expert tips on loading, driving and parking, contact the Caravan Club or the Camping and Caravan Club, both of which run courses.
